  1. BookClub Crafts- Back to School Edition (08/22/17)

    • ​Catch up with the other girls in book club, or meet us for the very first time: this week we'll be coloring bookmarks and picking books for book club this year.​​

  2. Back to School Summer Reading Celebration (09/06/17)​

    • Bring your APL summer reading certificate, your parents, and your amazing self--join us for snacks, games, a special book reading by Principal Garza, and a water gun battle.​

  3. 8th Grade College Fair (10/07/17)​

    • We are hosting representatives from 6 regional colleges and universities as well as local high school counselors so your family can begin looking into college options and planning for your high school career.

  4.   Texas Book Festival Lone Star Reading List Speaker (11/03/17)

    • Author Lindsay Eagar (Hour of the Bees) will running a creative writing group for ELA and music classes.

  5. Hour of Code Tedx Presentations (12/05/17)​

    • ​Today students will be presenting the scratch programs they have been developing in their science classes for the past 2 weeks in a mock TED talk during all lunches.  We have invited your teachers, parents, and representatives from the Thinkery.  Three programs will be chosen to be used in a new Thinkery children's museum lab space. ​

  6. Cassandra Clare Author Visit (01/22/18)​

    • Join the author of the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series for a sneak peek of her newest book, out this May.  Social Studies classes can reserve a time for a special map-making and reading session run by the author​.

  7. 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Book Clubs- Blind Date with a Book (02/13/17)

    • We will be discussing Susan Long Hill's The Magic Mirror  (6th)​ and Jessica Khoury's Kalahari (7th & 8th), then we'll each be picking our own books.  It's a great time to try a new genre and get outside your comfort zone.; maybe you'll even fall in love with a new author.

  8. MakerSpace Friday - Dr. Seuss's Birthday​

    • Today you AND the Lorax will speak for the trees by turning trash into treasure: you will learn how to weave bags and accessories out of candy wrappers and juice boxes.

  9. Literacy Lunch - National Poetry Month Slam

    • We know you've been rehearsing--come during your lunch and throw down!  Two of our Literacy Lunch favorites, DJ Snappy B and Mizz Krimson will be MC-ing and spitting some of their own spoken word art.

  10.   Reading Buddies- StoryCorps Oral History Event

    • ​Say farewell to Scout and our other reading buddies for the year by  recording an oral history personal conversation between you and your reading buddy  about "What summer stands out in your memory?"​
